Chinon Market
Flavours and colours of the Loire Valley
At the heart of the Loire Valley, a land of fine food and drink, take the time to discover some of the local produce. An outstanding culinary destination, the Touraine region has managed to uphold the tradition of eating well as promoted by Rabelais, Renaissance philosopher and native of the region, with traditional specialities still being produced.
Head to our wonderful market just a short stroll from the hotel, where various local producers vend their wares. On Thursday morning (and every day during the summer), the streets and the squares come to life in a dazzling array of colours. Renowned throughout the region, this market attracts residents of Chinon and tourists alike, who are all drawn by the flavours of the Loire Valley. More than 100 stallholders are here to share the joys of the regional produce (wine, cheese, charcuterie, and other delights), as well as their zest for craftmanship.
Every third Sunday of the month along the banks of the Vienne (Promenade des Docteurs Mattraits, just 100 m from the hotel), you can also enjoy the monthly flea market with 75 stallholders. It’s the perfect chance to soak up the town and make some great purchases!
